According to Mexican law, the licensee of NOM must be a Mexican company, responsible for the quality, maintenance and reliability of products. There are two verification units in Mexico that can issue NOM marks

-NOM Nyce: the scope of verification includes all electronic and information products and data processing equipment, excluding household appliances (excluding microwave ovens)

-NOM ance: the scope of verification includes all electrical appliances and similar products (such as home appliances)

The products of NOM compulsory certification are generally electronic and electrical products with voltage over 24 V AC or DC. It is mainly used in the fields of product safety, energy and thermal effect, installation, health and agriculture. The following products must be certified by NOM to enter the Mexican market:

——Electronic or electrical products for home, office and factory use;

——Computer local area network (LAN) equipment;

——Lighting devices;

——Tyres, toys and school supplies;

——Medical equipment;

——Wired and wireless communication products, such as wired telephone, wireless telephone, etc;

——Products driven by electricity, propane, natural gas or batteries.

NOM voluntary certification is generally applicable to parts, such as conductors, fuses, lamp holders and ballasts, for the reference of manufacturers and importers.

——M0: certification through quality control and regular test verification;

——M1: Certification (new product type test) through regular test verification;

——M2: Certification (new product) through quality system assessment and verification;

——M4: certification through quality control and periodic test verification (applicable to redesigned products);

——M5: batch certification (applicable to redesign products and second-hand products without redesign manual);

——M6: 100% certification (applicable to non-standard products).
